Hi, I'm Jenny. I live near Baltimore, MD, and as my profile says, I'm a healthy and happy wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. I have a very full life, with a great husband and two great kids, a full time job and a very active singing hobby on the side.
I sing barbershop harmony in a Sweet Adelines chorus, the Harbor City Music Company Show Chorus. I also sing in a barbershop quartet, Lustre. This hobby has brought me so much - a creative outlet, a community of friends, a chance to challenge myself in new ways, and a lot of enjoyment from singing with and listening to a lot of great music.
I've discovered, though, that when you belong to a hobby filled with women, and you meet and make friends with hundreds of women, you're very likely to have breast cancer stare you right in the face. It stands to reason that if 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and you have, say, 100 women friends, you're eventually going to have a friend (or a few) battle this dreaded disease. When it happens the first time, you support your friend. When it happens the second time, you support your friend and get a little angrier. When it keeps on happening, and hits more and more of your friends, you get just plain sick of it. And you have to do something. At least, that's what happened to me.
So, I decided to join in the battle and join the walk.
I hope you'll check back on me over the course of the training and the event. If you can find it in your heart (and your account) to donate, I would be so grateful!
